My current professional activities and interests focus on information technology (IT), ethics and/or education.
- I am a lecturer in IT at the Department of Teacher Training of the Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven (KHLeuven), or Leuven University College in English.
I prepare students for teaching information technology (IT) and (some) computer science in secondary school.
I am responsible for an introductory overview course on IT and computer science, several programming courses, a seminar series on didactics, and a seminar series on ethical and social issues in IT.
I am also involved in various research projects as well as project coordination at the divisional and/or departmental levels.
Finally, together with Gerben Dierick, lecturer in IT at the G&T Department of the KHLeuven, I teach a course on ethical and social issues in information technology in the KHLeuven International Programme for Erasmus Students.
- I am a part-time visiting professor at the Department of Computer Science of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KULeuven).
In the University´s teacher training programme, at the master level, I am responsible for two courses dealing respectively with didactics of technology education and research based development of technology education.
I share this responsibilty with Professor Wim Dehaene of the KULeuven Electrical Engineering Department.
- I like to think, talk and write on IT, ethics and education. A list of my publications on those topics can be found here (mostly in Dutch).
In 2008, my latest book on ethical and social issues connected to information technology was published.
A second, slightly revised, edition appeared in 2010.
More information about this book can be found here (in Dutch).
